Company-specific notes
Netflix runs a 'single salary' model: total comp is paid 100% as cash by default. Employees can elect to convert a portion of base salary into stock options at offer-time (the conversion rate is published quarterly), but most engineers opt for full cash. There is no annual bonus, no RSU refresh, no sign-on bonus, and no separate equity grant. Netflix's comp positioning is 'top of market' - they aim to pay above the 90th percentile of the relevant comp band. The ladder is flatter than peers: 'Senior' covers most ICs from 3 to 10+ YOE, with significant comp variance within the title. Staff and Principal levels were added in 2022 to provide more granularity at the top.
