A framework to structure your answer
Clarify - whose product is this (the store deploys it), and what are both parties optimizing? Shopper: time. Store: throughput, labor cost, basket size, shrink.
Segment trips - big weekly carts vs small top-up baskets vs grab-and-go; the pain differs by trip type.
Options ladder - list solutions from cheap/incremental to ambitious (queue optimization → self-checkout → scan-as-you-shop → computer-vision walk-out).
Pick & justify - choose by impact on the biggest pain vs cost and operational risk.
Handle the hard problem - loss prevention that doesn't recreate the queue.
Metrics - shopper-side time saved and adoption; store-side shrink, labor, and basket guardrails.
